Harley Not Just A Machine, A Lifestyle

WHEN Harley-Davidson sells a motorcycle, it claims to be selling not just a machine but a lifestyle. To round out the lifestyle, Harley offers a wide range of licensed accessories, which are featured in its latest catalogues.
For those who have not seen them, Harley catalogues are themselves collectors' items, being more like substantial magazines than advertising material. The latest are no exception.
The H-D Motorclothes and Collectibles catalogue features a huge range of official jackets, pants, vests, boots, shirts, belts, braces, gloves, hats goggles, helmets, wet-weather gear and casual wear to suit just about every taste that includes a H-D logo.
You can even get Harley sunglasses, ties, boxer shorts and socks. Then there is the Harley children's wear. Beyond clothing, Harley offers bags, wallets, watches, knives, mugs, glasses, dart boards, toys, lighters and even a jukebox and a guitar.
The possibilities are endless.
Then there is Harley's hugh range of motorcycle accessories, from both its ``Genuine" range and its ``Screamin' Eagle" performance range. Buying the motorcycle, it seems, is just the beginning.
A more recent entry, Triumph also has a growing list of accessories including jackets, casual clothes, wet-weather suits, bags and hats. Triumph also has a range of accessories to help customise its Thunderbolt model, as well as minor modifications and add-ons for its other models.
Triumph is keen to include new owners in organised events, the first of which is the New Triumph Rally at Mount Beauty over the weekend of 21-22 October. Interested non-Triumph owners may also attend. For information, telephone (03) 9602 5833.
On 7 November (Melbourne Cup Day), A1 Performance Rider Training is holding a ride day at the Phillip Island circuit.
A maximum of 40 riders will have unlimited access to the world's best grand prix race track for the day. The fee of $110 includes tuition, if desired, and a barbecue lunch.
For those who miss out, at the Winton circuit near Benalla, on Sunday 10 December, A1 Performance Rider Training is holding another ride day. An unlimited number of laps and tuition on riding technique are available for 50 people, at a cost of $80 per head.
A1's riding technique tuition is excellent, being well planned and easy to follow. This rider has benefited hugely from A1's tuition (either that or my riding companions have slowed down a lot), so it comes highly recommended.
For further information on the ride days, contact Steve Brouggy at A1 on (03) 9870 1256.
